What we do
Formed in 2007, we run an annual residential chamber music course designed for amateur string players who wish to learn or improve their chamber music skills. Over a long weekend, you will study a work for string quartet (or quintet), and are coached by each of the members of a professional string quartet. During the weekend there will be a concert given by the quartet, a workshop in which they showcase rehearsal techniques, an optional student play-through and opportunities for informal playing.
Ideally you come as a pre-formed group - either one that already meets regularly or one formed specifically for this course. Occasionally we put individuals in touch with others to form a group but this is not guaranteed. To make the most of the course you need to choose a work in advance, get together to rehearse and familiarise yourselves with the score.
The course is designed to be affordable, informal, and in beautiful surroundings. Non-residential places are available.
